Project Brief:<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/p>

Brief of the project having the capacity of 1.8 MW is arun of river Scheme is located in tehsil drosh on shishi river. District chitral earlier 1985 PEDO constructed 300 kw shishi mini micro plant. Which was then upgraded, as a social project using same source of water with increased head and standard civil structure. The shishi river with proper gravel spill and sand traps structure on the power channel as per standard designed A. 132m connecting power channel is leading water from gravel spill to the rectangular head race channel having a total length of about 3800 m\u00a0 and it ends in sand traps and forebay.<\/span><\/p>

From forebay water is being taken to the power house through a 210m long 1.2m internal dia meter penstock pipe. The water after passing through the turbine is a discharged back in to Shishi River through tailrace channel, electricity generated is fed to the 11kv drosh grid of PESCO further distributes it locally to tehsil Drosh. The tariff of shishi HPS is RS. 1.59\/kwh which is under revision with NEPRA and in review petition, the NEPRA has approved Rs. 2.473\/kwh with indexation.<\/span><\/p>

Challenges<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/p>

Due to frequent flash floods phenomenon in the district Chitral, accompanied with high silt and debris, the repair of runners and allied mechanical structures is a big challenge and to mitigate the damages, the power house is kept at low generation in the flood season and also frequent flushing of the sands and debris are performed at the power channel and forebay to reduce the erosion of the equipment.<\/span><\/p>

Achievements<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/p>

PEDO Board has approved the Captive generation to industries for Shishi HPP, which will not only increase the revenue of the power plant but will also provide impetus to the local industries.<\/span><\/p>
