Twelve (12) small Projects were shifted from Irrigation department to PEDO for further execution and completion in March 2021. Out of 12 Projects two (2) were completed and two (2) Projects were dropped due to social issues. The remaining 8 Projects are under construction and at various stages of completion. Merged Area (Ex-FATA) is spread over an area of 27220 Sq Km with a population of about 5.1 million according to census in 2017. Most of the population is living in far flung areas where power facilities are not available. Merged Area (Ex-FATA) is a backward administrative unit in Pakistan, hence most energy deficient area of the country. There are large numbers of remote villages in Merged Area (EX-FATA) and most of them are without electricity. According to TESCO, the power provided in Merged Area (EX-FATA) is 184MW (maximum) against the demand of 600MW while the peak load is calculated as 781MW and about 2\/3 percent of total population have no access to electricity. There are about 1108 MW identified potential of Hydel, Solar and wind Power available in merged districts. Therefore, construction of small hydel is the best and easy way to provide cheap and clean electricity to the poor and war affected peoples of merged area.
