Project Brief:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The Energy & Power Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through its implementing arm Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PED0) has made an effort to provide off grid electricity to the people living in northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on fast-track basis. To materialize this effort, the Government of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started the flag-ship project of electrifying the remote and off-grid localities through Mini Micro Hydro Power Projects (MMHPPs) which are indigenous and cheap resource of supplying un-interrupted electricity primarily in off grid and far-flung hilly areas of KP. The existing electricity supply from national grid in these areas is not adequate and cannot meet the requirement hence off-grid solution are essential. The benefits of the project include but not limits to the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Mitigation of CO2 emissions and environmental degradation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Avoiding deforestation\/tree cutting for fuel material (heating\/Cooking purpose). It also protects the local ecosystem<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Provide Clean & Green energy at very affordable rates.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    The development of these projects would feed to the sustainable supply of electricity and would serve as a catalyst for development of basic industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Project wit create employment opportunities and Growth\/uplift of socio-economic conditions of the targeted population.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    These Hydel projects will play an important role in local vicinity economy due to utilization of indigenous energy resources, in reducing load shedding and saving of foreign exchange required to import fuel for small scale purposes etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The PMU meant for Phase-II of MMHPP\u2019s is looking after all the projects of phase-I and completion report based on the detailed follow up visits of PMU and P&D Department staff were framed and submitted to all concerned offices. Almost all the completed MMHPP\u2019s were found operational and the local community is taken proper care of these units. The larger MMHPP\u2019s with capacity greater than 200KW have been handed over to the NGO\u2019s through variation orders for its operation and maintenance.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The devastating flood of 2022, however damage 114 No of MMHPP\u2019s for which PC-I is framed and is submitted to provincial government for approval.
