Project Brief:

The objectives of the program comprise the provision of energy by means of renewable energy sources. In particular with installation of solar systems in 8,000 schools and 187 Basic Health Units (BHU) that are currently off grid or have high rate of load shedding. With these initiatives, the Government of KP shalt provide electricity from renewable sources facilitate a better education to 1,000,000 Students and by means of facilitating computerized education, extended and upgraded medical assistance in 187 health facilities.

The contracts for implementation of the project to the contractor were awarded in June-August 2020, the whole scope of the project was further sub divided into district wise packages and monitored through dedicated staff. The quality of the installation and installed equipment was the prime objective, for compliance of the same top of the line equipment brands lying in tier 1 of the solar industry have been insured by the project office with the help of extended arm of experienced consultants. The procurement deliveries of the schemes prior to installation at sites were duly verified from the renowned testing laboratories of Pakistan. The efficient planning, implementation strategy and continuous monitoring of the project monitoring unit resulted in achieving the targets within due timelines and project is near to completion. Out of total 8187 Sites 8104 Sites have either partially or completely installed and 6866 sites have been accordingly handed over to Education and health departments. The project has a major impact on increase of students enrollment in government schools and parents prefers to shift their children to the schools energized through the project. The Project will be monitored for operation and maintenance of the solar plants additionally in 3 year of defect liability period .Dedicated operation and maintenance committees on district level with nomination from health department & education department have been nominated for smooth operations after impartment of necessary trainings supported by maintenance manuals. For the remarkable performance in project implementation the project unit has been awarded with excellence award by Asian Development Bank and Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
