A Historic Milestone for PEDO: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s First Power Transmission Line!
Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) proudly announces a landmark achievement with the launch of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s first-ever power transmission line. This pioneering project is a testament to PEDO’s commitment to advancing the energy infrastructure and autonomy of the province.
The formal signing ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, where PEDO’s leadership and representatives of M/S Netracon Technologies Ltd. finalized the agreement in the presence of the Chief Minister and provincial cabinet members. This milestone project will see a 40-kilometer, 132/220 KV transmission line constructed from Matiltan to Madian. With an estimated budget of Rs.8 billion, the project is set for completion within 18 months, reflecting PEDO’s dedication to timely, high-impact initiatives.
This new transmission line will facilitate the seamless transfer of electricity generated by PEDO’s 84 MW Matiltan Hydropower Project and other provincial projects in Swat, enabling efficient distribution either to the national grid or to local industries at reduced rates. Not only will this project enhance energy access in the region, but it is also projected to generate substantial revenue for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—an estimated Rs.7 billion annually.
Moreover, this transmission line represents the first phase of the Swat Corridor Transmission Line project, with plans for a second phase to extend an additional 80 kilometers from Madian to Chakdara. PEDO is setting the stage for a sustainable energy future in the region, where multiple high-capacity hydropower projects are already underway.
This milestone underscores PEDO’s vision for a self-reliant Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, driven by sustainable energy solutions and economic resilience.
