Project Brief:
The
objective of the Solar Home System (SHS) is to provide energy access to the
households of off-grid or heavy load shedding areas of central and southern
districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The
scheme is meant to deliver socio-economic benefits to households. The provision
of an energy that provide high quality lighting which is clean and convenient
has many positive impacts on the rural households. It also provided households
with energy for radios & charging cell phones. This energy source also has
positive impacts by displacing other energy sources such as candles or kerosene
for lighting which can have associated fire and indoor air quality risk as well
as associated emissions reductions.
The scheme covered 2900 homes of un-electrified/heavy
load shedding affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Un-electrified/heavy load shedding affected
villages/sites having 100 houses or more were considered for electrification on
top priority. The 2nd priority was given to villages/sites having
less than 100 houses.
